First Church is not about performing rituals each week because of tradition. It's our mission, by God's grace, to introduce people to Christ, to see them grow in their walk with Him, and to extend His Kingdom. Therefore we strive to reach out to our community and to touch people with God's grace. We continually invite people to come worship with us and are excited when people make First Church their church home. But we don't stop there. We want to see people invest themselves in personal spiritual growth and become a part of the "core" of our church. The "core" is composed of people who become involved in ministry; those who come not just to be served, but to look for a place to serve. We offer a sequence of classes designed to help each person grow spiritually. Class 101 - "Membership Class," examines what it means to accept Christ as Lord and what it means to be a part of a church family. Class 201 - "Maturity Class," helps people develop the basic habits that result in spiritual growth. Class 301 - "Ministry Class," challenges Christians to discover how God has "gifted" them and to find a ministry where they can use their gifts to make a difference. Class 401 - "Mission Class," encourages each Christian to embrace God's call for us to share our faith, and provides some very practical guidance. Class 101 helps people move from just attending church to becoming a part of the church; Class 201 from being a member of the church to the path of spiritual maturity; Class 301 from spiritual growth to becoming involved in ministry; Class 401 from being involved in ministry to reaching back out to our community. Each of these classes will be offered throughout 2007. Please check back for dates and details. |
